New way to detect laptop user presence

Some researchers are experimenting with a new way of detecting the presence of a laptop user using sonar technique. The goal is to shut off the display direcly when the user leaves the computer, compare that to the slow way of reading timeouts from mouse and keyboard.

C=64 Laptop

Got a cool link from a friend of mine that showed one dude that had remade his old C=64 into a laptop. I wish I would have had one of those 20 years ago when I went to computer parties carrying computer, floppy, tv and sleeping bag. It would have been so much easier, but on the other hand that was a part of the whole experience.
